Update on Blackpool Lightpool Festival after weekend Storm Boelo cancellations due to terrible weather

Update after the weekend weather disrupted events across the Fylde coast.

Blackpool’s Lightpool Festival is set to return tonight (Monday, October 26), after events on Saturday and Sunday were cancelled due to Storm Boelo.

Visitors are being invited to explore spectacular light installations, immersive artworks and dazzling projections across the town between 6pm and 9pm. The festival’s return follows disruption caused by the storm, which brought severe weather to the area over the weekend.

Organisers have warned that a small number of outdoor installations may be temporarily unavailable following the recent bad weather. Visitors are advised to check the Lightpool website for the latest updates before setting off.

Among the artworks featured at the festival is In Love with my Dynamic soft Elephant, by Chila Kumari Singh Burman MBE and Phil Holmes, located in St John’s Square at map reference 13. The installation forms part of the wider Lightpool programme, which brings illuminated artworks and projections to locations across Blackpool.

Organisers said they were delighted to welcome visitors back to the festival on Monday evening, following the cancellations on October 24 and 25 due to Storm Boelo.
