Wyre Council major update on Poulton Market as Storm Boelo disruption continues to impact Fylde coast

Everything you need to know as Storm Boelo chaos continues.

Poulton Market has been cancelled on Monday due to forecast high winds, persistent rain and debris left behind following the weekend storm.

Wyre Council confirmed the decision, citing safety concerns for traders, visitors and staff as adverse weather conditions are expected to continue. The council said the combination of strong wind gusts, ongoing rainfall and debris from the storm meant cancelling the market was the most responsible course of action.

In a statement, Wyre Council said: “The safety of our traders, visitors and staff must come first, and with adverse weather conditions expected, we feel this is the most responsible course of action.”

The council apologised for any inconvenience caused by the cancellation and thanked the public for their understanding. It added that it looked forward to welcoming traders and visitors back to Poulton Market when conditions improve.

The cancellation follows a weekend of severe weather associated with Storm Boelo, which has brought strong winds and rain to the area.
