Lytham St Annes Hockey Club round-up: Development squad are edged out at Longridge

Lytham St Annes Hockey Club’s Development team returned to action at the weekend.

Lytham St Annes Hockey Club’s Development team was their only side in action last Saturday as they were beaten 3-2 at Longridge Development.

Despite challenging weather and a pitch that wasn’t in the best condition, the LSA players demonstrated determination, teamwork and sportsmanship.

A fine save denied Longridge an early opener before LSA responded, winning short corners and applying pressure on their hosts.

Longridge also won a short corner on 26 minutes, two minutes before taking the lead with a goal which LSA felt should have been disallowed.

Another short corner came LSA’s way before half-time but they were 1-0 behind at the break.

The second half saw them determined to give everything but they conceded a second goal shortly after the restart.

However, a fantastic run and finish from Isla made it 2-1 as LSA continued to push forward and earn short corners.

Then, with 15 minutes remaining, they got back on terms as Isla scored her second goal of the game.

It was Longridge who had the final word, though, as they scored what proved to be the winner with nine minutes to go.

Nevertheless, the LSA team never stopped running, defending, attacking or supporting each other as every player contributed and worked hard.
