Plans to expand holiday park in Hambleton village by installing more caravans

The current plans for Sunset Park Holiday Village, off Sower Carr Lane, will see an additional 46 static caravans for holiday use installed on the site.

Plans have been put forward to expand a holiday park in Hambleton by bringing more static caravans onto the site.

The current plans for Sunset Park Holiday Village, off Sower Carr Lane, will see an additional 46 static caravans for holiday use installed on the site.

If the proposals are approved by planners, it will mean there are a total of 66 caravans on the site at Sunset Park, as there are currently 20 there already.

However, a further 101 caravans are proposed for a neighbouring piece of land on the overall site.

The application submitted to Wyre planners is for a change of use of land for the siting of 46 static caravans and reconfiguration of the existing caravan pitches for 18 static caravans for holiday use, and hardstanding track.

This proposals relate specifically to Site B, one of two adjacent parcels of land being brought forward for development.

A separate, standalone planning application is being submitted concurrently for Site A, which proposes the siting of the 101 static holiday caravans.

The site is surrounded by mixed-use land – agricultural fields, farms buildings, a number of residential houses and also existing caravans.

There have been eight objections to the proposals at the current time.

A Planning Design and Access Statement has been submitted by architectures and planning agents GA Associates, on behalf of applicant Mr Patrick Hanley.

It says: “Sunset Park is a long-established and well-managed holiday park that has undergone steady and supported growth in recent years.

“Wyre Borough Council has consistently endorsed the principle of development at the site, as demonstrated by a series of planning permissions.”

These include three successful separate planning applications allowing the siting of up to 32 caravans on the overall site.

The statement continues: “The development comprises the reconfiguration of 20 existing static caravan pitches alongside the siting of 46 additional static caravan units, resulting in a total of 66 static holiday caravans within Site B.

“Adequate spacing is maintained between units, including consistent separation distances, ensuring appropriate levels of amenity, outlook and privacy, whilst also allowing for safe access and circulation throughout the site.

“The proposal represents a logical and well-related extension to an established and successful holiday park, and the development will deliver clear economic benefits through the expansion of a rural business, increased visitor expenditure, and support for the wider tourism economy in Wyre and the Fylde Coast.”
