Fleetwood Coastguard called to missing person search as cars engulfed by sea foam after Storm Boelo
Emergency crews worked alongside police to investigate belongings found on the beach before responding to vehicles caught in sea foam along Rossall Promenade
Coastguard crews were called to a missing person search and a separate incident in Cleveleys as the aftermath of Storm Boelo continued to affect the Fylde coast.
HM Coastguard Fleetwood said conditions remained blustery the following day, with strong westerly winds contributing to unexpectedly high tides and waves overtopping parts of the promenade.
In a social media update, the coastguard said an early call was received about items of clothing and belongings discovered on the beach, prompting a missing person search and investigation alongside Blackpool Police, with support from HM Coastguard Lytham. The search subsequently moved inland, before crews were tasked to another incident in Cleveleys.

Several cars parked along Rossall Promenade had become engulfed in sea foam, while waves were also overtopping other sections of the seafront. Coastguard teams were sent to check the welfare of anyone who might have been inside the affected vehicles. Crews ultimately helped direct people to recover their vehicles safely.
The coastguard warned that the strong westerly winds had pushed the tide in earlier and higher than usual, meaning people could be caught out despite checking tide times in advance. It also highlighted the potential hazards associated with sea foam, explaining that although it can appear relatively harmless, it may contain decaying marine life and human pollutants.
The team said this was one of the reasons for the level of protective equipment worn by responders attending such incidents. The operations involved collaboration between the Maritime Rescue Co-ordination Centre (MRCC) Holyhead, Blackpool Police and HM Coastguard Lytham.
The coastguard reminded the public that anyone facing a coastal emergency should call 999 and ask for the Coastguard.
