Cleveleys is hosting its first-ever Continental Market, with international traders bringing food, crafts and unique products to the town’s seafront for four days.

The market, organised by Merseyside-based RR Events, opened on Thursday, August 20 and will run until Sunday, August 23. Wyre Council said: “The Continental Market has arrived in Cleveleys! We are excited to see RR Events bringing their continental market to Cleveleys for the very first time.”

The event is being held on The Plaza event space, where Victoria Road West meets South Promenade. Visitors can browse a range of products from traders from around the world, with the market featuring tasty foods, quirky crafts and unique items.

Among the food on offer are Greek, Thai and Mexican dishes, alongside fresh produce including olives, cheeses, macaroons and Tiramisu. The market also features handcrafted goods, including rugs from Asia, wood carvings from Africa and a selection of items from South America.

RR Events stages more than 40 similar Continental Markets across the UK each year, with the Cleveleys event marking its first visit to the town. Wyre Council said the market would see the promenade lined with international traders and encouraged people to come down, explore and enjoy what is on offer.

The market opening times are 10am to 6pm from Thursday to Saturday, with the final day on Sunday running from 10am to 4pm.

The four-day event was announced earlier this year as a new addition to Cleveleys’ summer events programme, giving residents and visitors the opportunity to sample food and discover products from around the world without leaving the Fylde coast.

When the market for first announced, Joanne Evans, office manager for RR Events, said: “We’ve been going for 15 years and have been all over the country but this this will be our first time in Cleveleys so we’re really looking forward to it. I regularly come to Blackpool and St Annes for days out and I love the seafront there.

“I know that sometimes people are a bit wary coming to these kind of markets because they are worried about the price but we’v arranged it that all the food stalls will be offering a £5 affordable meal deal on the day. There’s no pressure to buy, people can just come along and see what’s on offer.”
