Explanation issued following early exit of Huddersfield Town loanee in Blackpool's defeat to Barrow

Blackpool suffered a 2-0 defeat to Barrow in their latest pre-season outing.

Blackpool have been forced to deal with their fair share of injuries throughout pre-season so far.

While none of the problems have been serious ahead of the start of the new EFL campaign in a fortnight’s time, it has caused some disruption during recent friendlies - with the latest ending in a 2-0 defeat to Barrow.

In the second half of the game at Holker Street, Dion Charles was forced off, after being introduced just 12 minutes before.

Discussing the problem for the Huddersfield Town loanee, Seasiders head coach Ian Evatt said: “He had a stamp on his foot a few weeks ago that he’s been managing and dealing with. It’s quite a heavy bruise.

“When he went through (against Barrow), which was a penalty, the lad stood on him and irritated it. That was the reason we took him off and decided not to take any more risks.”

Rekeem Harper and Innes Cameron were on target either side of half time for Barrow, in a fixture marking the anniversary of the Bluebird’s first-ever professional game against Blackpool back in 1901.

While Charles was forced off injured, Albie Morgan was also added to the list of absentees before kick off, joining Olly Casey, Fraser Horsfall, Michael Ihiekwe, George Honeyman, Leighton Clarkson and Tom Bloxham on the sidelines.
