Blackpool pair miss out on monthly League One accolades to Huddersfield Town and Sheffield Wednesday figures
Ian Evatt and Bailey Peacock-Farrell have missed out on monthly accolades despite Blackpool’s strong start to the season.
Blackpool’s Ian Evatt and Bailey Peacock-Farrell have missed out on their respective monthly awards after being among the nominees earlier this week.
The Seasiders enjoyed a strong August, picking up seven points from their three outings.
Results included an impressive 2-1 win away to Stockport County and a big 4-0 home victory over Peterborough United.
This prompted a nomination for League One Manager of the Month for Evatt - who stepped into the top job at Bloomfield Road last October having previously won two promotions in Tangerine as a player.
Ultimately, the award has gone to Huddersfield Town’s Martin Drury - who picked up the same number of points as the Blackpool boss throughout August.
Meanwhile, it’s the same story for Bailey Peacock-Farrell in the player’s category.
The goalkeeper was a major part of the Seasiders’ strong start to proceedings.
While he was only able to register one clean sheet, which came against the Posh, the full extent of his contribution needs a deeper dive.
In the game prior away to Stockport, the ex-Burnley man made a number of world class saves to help Blackpool to a 2-1 win on the road, with the Hatters’ goal only coming in the closing stages.
This followed a similar performance against Grimsby Town in the first round of the EFL Cup a fortnight before.
The Player of the Month award has instead gone to someone at the opposite end of the pitch, with Jamal Lowe recognised after bagging three goals and one assist for Sheffield Wednesday throughout August.
