Blackpool boss maps out plan for free week building up to Bromley test
It’s been a tough week for Blackpool - with defeats coming away to both Barnsley and Reading.
Blackpool will be looking to re-energise this week after suffering back-to-back defeats.
The Seasiders had enjoyed a bright start to the campaign, with seven points coming from their opening three games, and will be looking to get back to that form against Bromley at Bloomfield Road on Saturday.
Ian Evatt’s side endured their first blow of the campaign away to Barnsley last Wednesday, with a controversial late goal helping the home side to a 2-1 victory at Oakwell.
A ball into the box took a touch off the hand of Patrick Kelly before finding its way to Amani Richards - who headed home the winner at the back post.
To make matters worse, Blackpool were then hit with a disrupted journey home due to motorway closures.
This certainly took its toll away to Reading at the weekend, with a flat performance on display in the 3-1 loss to the Royals at the Select Cars Leasing Stadium.
While fatigue played a role in the Seasiders’ drop off, Evatt states the intensity won’t ease in training this week.
“The tap has to stay on,” he said.
“Rest is important, and they’ll get that tomorrow (Sunday) and Monday. The ones who have played the majority of the minutes will be gym-based.
“Everyone else is all systems go and full tilt with our minds on getting back to where we were just three days ago.”

With plenty more hurdles and busy periods to come this season, Evatt admits his side must adapt more effectively going forward.
“It’s been challenging but it’s always a good learning curve for us to know that when we dip our energy level, we are susceptible to results like that,” he added.
“That’s everything we’ve guarded against this season, and we have to respond and regroup for this week.
“It would’ve been great to have a large amount of the squad available to be able to rotate today, we just didn’t have that option so we had to go again.
“It is what it is. It’s a long old season, and there’s still 41 games to go. I feel this group is really positive and it’s completely different to last season; I know we’ll be okay.”
