Blackpool boss makes mindset clear after defeats to Barnsley and Reading
Blackpool were defeated 3-1 by Reading at the Select Cars Leasing Stadium.
Ian Evatt has admitted Blackpool must learn from their 3-1 defeat to Reading on Saturday afternoon.
The Seasiders looked flat on their trip to Berkshire, after a deflating midweek loss away to Barnsley in controversial circumstances - which was followed by disrupted travels.
After assisting George Earthy for the Royals’ opener, Kyreece Lisbie bagged one of his own after the break to double the lead at the Select Cars Leasing Stadium.
Leighton Clarkson did pull one back for the visitors, but that was followed by the Berkshire outfit’s third through substitute Jacob Brown.
After enjoying a bright start to the campaign, Evatt states heads won’t drop at Bloomfield Road following a tough week.
“All is not lost, we know what was wrong, and we know how to fix it,” he said.
“I’m really positive about this season, and about this team; now we have to get back to ourselves on Saturday.
“It’s been really tough, and we just didn’t have that same zest or energy today (against Reading). I’m here to protect my players and understand why.
“It’s been challenging but it’s always a good learning curve for us to know that when we dip our energy level, we are susceptible to results like that. That’s everything we’ve guarded against this season, and we have to respond and regroup for this week.
“It would’ve been great to have a large amount of the squad available to be able to rotate today, we just didn’t have that option so we had to go again.
“It is what it is. It’s a long old season, and there’s still 41 games to go. I feel this group is really positive and it’s completely different to last season; I know we’ll be okay.
“Today hurts, Wednesday definitely hurts, now we have to recharge for Saturday.”

An issue for Blackpool last season was picking themselves back up after adversity, with Evatt asked whether old issues could resurface.
“I don’t think it will,” he responded.
“I don’t fear that at all, I think this group understands who we are and what we are. We’ve tried to build this season. There’s a long way to go. It’s not the end of the world, we’ve been very competitive in both defeats.”
