Blackpool boss nominated for monthly accolade alongside Huddersfield Town and Sheffield Wednesday figures
Ian Evatt has been nominated for August’s Manager of the Month following Blackpool’s bright start to the campaign.
Blackpool boss Ian Evatt has been put forward for an early season accolade.
The 44-year-old is among the nominees for August’s Manager of the Month award in League One following his side’s performances at the start of the campaign.
Since taking over the top job at Bloomfield Road last October, there’s been both highs and lows for the two-time promotion winning former Seasiders defender.
The end of last season was one of the highlights, with Blackpool picking up 22 points from their final nine games to comfortably escape relegation.
That form continued at the beginning of the current term. After coming from behind to draw 1-1 with Wycombe Wanderers at home on the opening weekend, the Fylde Coast outfit claimed a hard-fought 2-1 victory away to Stockport County.
On their return to Bloomfield Road the following weekend, there was a huge result for the Seasiders, as they claimed a 4-0 win over Peterborough United, with the returning Jerry Yates being among the goalscorers off the bench.
The start of September hasn’t been as kind on the results-front, but August was certainly an impressive way for Evatt to set out his stall for a new campaign.

Also in the running for League One Manager of the Month are some of the early front runners.
Martin Drury at Huddersfield Town shared the same record as the Blackpool boss, with the West Yorkshire outfit picking up seven points from their opening three games.
After beating Wimbledon 3-0 at the Accu Stadium in their League One opener, the Terriers went on to draw 1-1 with MK Dons, before claiming a 2-1 victory over Cambridge United.
Both Sheffield Wednesday’s Henrik Pedersen and Stockport’s Jim McNulty picked up six points from a potential nine in August.
The Owls started the campaign with a 2-1 win away to Leyton Orient on the opening weekend, before losing 1-0 to Bradford City in their first home outing of the league season.
They bounced back from this in emphatic style, smashing early strugglers Bromley 7-2 in their next game at Hillsborough.
Meanwhile, a 3-1 win away to Plymouth Argyle and a 5-1 victory over Wycombe Wanderers at Edgeley Park came either side of Stockport’s defeat to Blackpool.
