Blackpool boss explains changes for Bromley draw on back of Reading defeat
Blackpool drew 2-2 with Bromley at Bloomfield Road on Saturday afternoon.
Blackpool’s plan almost came to fruition against Bromley - but they were unable to execute what they ultimately set out to achieve to get away with a disappointing display.
Looking to add more physicality to the midfield, Jordan Brown replaced Leighton Clarkson the Seasiders starting XI from their 3-1 defeat away to Reading.
The visitors were still able to dominate in that regard, as Victor Adeboyejo and JJ McKiernan both found the back of the net to cancel out goals from Albie Morgan and Tom Bloxham.
Despite not being at their best, there was still a late chance to win the game for last week’s goalscorer Clarkson off the bench.
“We tried to pick a more physical midfield because of the amount of second balls and duels they create,” head coach Ian Evatt explained.
“Leighton (Clarkson) for instance, that’s not his game or his bag. We thought we’d throw him on later on when the spaces get a bit bigger and they get more fatigued so he could come on and create. He had a big chance, and it almost happened; he probably should score.

“That plan was right, it’s just how we make other teams that are different to us and more physical than us fight our fight. For me, we went into their ring today, and we need to get them into our ring.”
The other change from the game at the Select Cars Leasing Stadium saw Jerry Yates drop down to the bench.
He was replaced by Bloxham - who was able to continue his bright start to the campaign.
“Jez (Jerry Yates) is still getting up to speed,” Evatt added.
“He missed the full pre-season more or less. He played 150 minutes the week before, so we have to be cautious with him, that we don’t keep going and break him.
“We’ve got an international window one game away, where we’ll have George (Honeyman) back, Dale (Taylor) back, Niall (Ennis) back, Hayden (Coulson) back, and all of the sudden things look a lot different.
“We’re going to keep moving forward and keep learning, and make sure we’re honest with where we’re at as a team.”
