“It’s great that it’s worked out that way”: Ian Evatt at AFC Fylde to assess Blackpool’s FA Cup opposition

Blackpool boss will take advantage of the short journey to watch their FA Cup round one opponents.

Blackpool head coach Ian Evatt will be carrying out some FA Cup scouting when he makes the trip to AFC Fylde this evening.

The Seasiders’ boss will be among the crowd as the Coasters host Hornchurch in the National League (7.45pm).

While their eyes will be on three points, Evatt is running the rule over Hornchurch ahead of the clubs’ FA Cup meeting a week on Saturday.

Instead of relying on scouting reports and video footage - or potentially making a 255-mile journey to watch them - he has the more palatable prospect of an eight-mile trip from Bloomfield Road to Mill Farm instead.

“I’ll be going to Fylde this evening,” Evatt confirmed before training on Friday.

“We will have a good look at them, it’s great that it’s worked out that way to be honest.

“I’m looking forward to seeing what they do, how they do it and learn from that.

“I don’t know that much about them but they’ve had a good run in the National League and that’s a tough league in itself.”

Hornchurch, who are 13th in the table ahead of tonight’s game, are yet to draw any of their 15 league games so far with seven wins and eight defeats.
