Blackpool CC professional released by Pakistan - 10 days after taking five wickets against England
Pakistan have decided to ring the changes after losing the first two Tests to England.
Blackpool CC professional Ali Usman is one of seven players to have been released from Pakistan’s squad following defeat in the second Test at Lord’s over the weekend.
The Pakistan Cricket Board announced sweeping changes on Monday, in the wake of a 194-run defeat which clinched a series victory for Joe Root’s side.
Usman was axed despite taking 5-95 when Pakistan lost by an innings and 103 runs in the first Test at Headingley.
He then followed that up with match figures of 1-56 at Lord’s, where the 33-year-old also helped delay England’s win with a stubborn stand of 31 with Saud Shakeel during Pakistan’s second innings.
The other players to depart are Mohammad Rizwan, Imam-ul-Haq, Aamir Jamal, Muhammad Awais Zafar, Khurram Shahzad and Salman Ali Agha, who had skippered Pakistan at Headingley.
Coming in are Saim Ayub, Abdullah Fazal, Arafat Minhas, Mohammad Imran Jnr, Saad Baig, Mohammad Imran and Razaullah.
Head coach Sarfaraz Ahmed and bowling coach Umar Gul have also been replaced by Mike Hesson and Ashley Noffke ahead of next week’s final Test at Edgbaston.
