"We're fortunate to have such a rich and diverse heritage across Wyre.”

The historic Mount Pavilion and Bleasdale Parish Hall, are just two venues participating in the Heritage Open Days festival this September, offering locals and visitors the chance to explore these attractions free of charge.

Running from Friday, September 11 to Sunday, September 20, 2026, the event showcases the Fylde coast’s rich history and culture, with venues across the area opening their doors for a ten-day celebration.

The nationwide initiative, organised by the National Trust and supported by Postcode Lottery players, aims to encourage people to connect with the heritage on their doorstep. Many Fylde coast locations that would typically charge admission will be allowing visitors in for free during the festival.

Councillor Lynne Bowen, Wyre Council’s portfolio holder for leisure, health and community engagement, said: "Heritage Open Days are a wonderful opportunity to celebrate Wyre's history and discover the stories behind the places we know and love. Whether you're exploring one of our historic buildings, joining a guided walk or visiting a local exhibition, there are plenty of opportunities to learn something new about our borough.

"We're fortunate to have such a rich and diverse heritage across Wyre, from our coastal landmarks and historic town centres to our rural landscapes and communities. I encourage residents and visitors alike to take advantage of these free events and help us celebrate the heritage that makes Wyre so special."

For a full list of Wyre events and further information, visitors are encouraged to check the Heritage Open Days website.
