I'm in TripAdvisor's top 10% in the world and we're making Cleveleys a foodie paradise

“We use local suppliers as well, where we can, so we do our best to feed back into the economy.”

Two of Cleveleys’ finest eateries, helping to put the town firmly on the foodie map, are celebrating after both scooped TripAdvisor’s Travellers’ Choice Awards

For Sandra Byrne, owner of Frilly Pig Bistro on Victoria Road West, it is the first award since she opened her beautiful establishment two years ago.

And just down the road, Hunter Carter, famed for its delicious sandwiches and beautifully presented grazing boards, is celebrating the same accolade.

The awards are based on customer reviews and recognise restaurants that rank among the top 10 per cent worldwide - making the achievement a real testament to the quality and popularity of both Cleveleys businesses.

Sandra, a mum of two from Fleetwood, prides herself on her home cooked food and that is what her customers love.

She has been overwhelmed by the reaction to her TripAdvisor Award, customers popping in to wish her well and she says the fact that the award came on the back of customer reviews - and that they had actually bothered to write one - makes it even more special.

“We started out doing pop up events, at Fleetwood Marine Hall, at Affinity doing artisan markets with pulled pork barmcakes. So then we played about with the name and came up with the Frilly Pig.

“I’m not a chef, I’m a home cook and out customers love to know how to do things. I’ll happily share if people can’t quite get the Yorkshire Puddings right, ours are phenomenal, so I’ll happily share the recipe.

“Our recipes evolve all the time, I get tips and tricks off Instagram and thing and I try new ways and every way is a success,.

“So we are getting better and better all the time.

“Week by week we change things a little bit, we want our food to look amazing as well as tasting amazing.

“We use local suppliers as well, where we can, so we do our best to feed back into the economy.”

It came as a shock for Sandra when she heard about the award. It wasn’t an award of nomination or application and at first, Sandra Byrne wasn’t completely sure of its high importance.

“I just received a random email and I didn’t really know what it was - but when I printed it out, I realised it was a world wide recognition based on customer reviews. It was something we needed to shout about.

“I think consistency is key, people want the same standard of food and experience time after time.”

The team at Hunters and Carters said: “Cleveleys is an amazing place, the community spirit is beautiful.

“I’m extremely proud of our business and that it is so popular with the local community.”
