A post on the force’s Fylde and Preston Facebook pages adds: “She managed to get off the bus at The Square in St. Annes and get help from a member of the public.

“An investigation is underway and enquiries are ongoing and the victim is being supported.

“The suspect is described as white, 5ft 11, aged about 20 with short brown messy hair. He was wearing a black zip windbreaker jacket, blue jeans [and] black Nike 270s.

“We are appealing to anyone who may have information or who recognises the man in the description to get in touch.

“You can call us on 101 quoting log 1832 or you can contact independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”

The 68 service usually travels on into Blackpool, but the Stagecoach timetable shows that the 10.30pm journey from Preston on a Saturday ends at The Square.
