Blackpool squad news V Mansfield Town: Eight out and one doubt for midweek game

Blackpool welcome Mansfield Town to Bloomfield Road this evening.

Blackpool will need a big reaction for this evening’s meeting with Mansfield Town.

The Seasiders’ dismal campaign hit a new low with a 4-0 defeat to Plymouth Argyle on Saturday afternoon.

Ian Evatt’s side have picked up just four points in League One in 2026 so far, and find themselves in trouble at the bottom end of the League One table.

There was an injury boost in the contest against the Pilgrims, with both Fraser Horsfall and Hayden Coulson returning to the matchday squad.

Here’s the latest squad news:

Michael Ihiekwe

Michael Ihiekwe is a doubt for the game, as he continues to battle with an ongoing toe problem.

The defender has received a steroid injection to ease the issue, but is still struggling to play twice a week due to swelling.

Providing an update on the summer arrival from Sheffield Wednesday, Evatt said: “It’s all about his symptoms. We just have to monitor him and see where he’s at. We’ll know tomorrow (Tuesday) if he’ll be available.”

Michael Obafemi

Michael Obafemi’s time with Blackpool has come to an early conclusion, with the Burnley loanee ruled out for the remainder of the campaign due to an ankle injury.

James Husband

James Husband will serve a four-match ban after being sent off for kicking out in the defeat to Plymouth.

Albie Morgan

Albie Morgan has suffered a set back in his return from injury, and requires further assessment, despite a hope he would’ve been back in action at the weekend.

“He’s having to go down to London on Wednesday to have a stress test under anaesthetic,” Evatt explained.

“Basically the ligament hasn’t healed as we would’ve liked, but we’re trying to work out if the ankle is still solid or not. We can’t do that when he’s awake because he’ll automatically tense up which gives the feeling of a more solid ankle than it would if he was completely relaxed.

“We’ll see where it’s at. It’s pretty much 50/50 at this point. If it’s loose and relaxed then it’ll require surgery; if it’s not then there’ll be a short period of rehab before he can return.

“We’re hopeful it’s option two rather than option one.”

Ryan Finnigan

Ryan Finnigan was added to Blackpool’s list of absentees last week, with the midfielder picking up an ankle injury against Huddersfield - which is set to keep him out for three to four weeks.

George Honeyman

George Honeyman was forced off just 11 minutes into last month’s game against Stockport County with a hamstring issue.

The midfielder should be back in training this week, and potentially in contention to take on Bolton Wanderers on Saturday.

Joel Randall

Joel Randall was introduced at half time against the Hatters, but was forced off shortly after.

Like Honeyman, he’s expected back around the squad this week, and could be back for the Seasiders’ meeting with Lincoln City on February 28.

Andy Lyons

Andy Lyons was added to the injury list last month, with the defender ruled out for eight to 10 weeks with an achilles issue.

Dale Taylor

On what was his first start since October following a lengthy spell on the sidelines, Dale Taylor was forced off after just six minutes against Doncaster Rovers on Boxing Day.

The striker has since undergone surgery on a metatarsal injury, and is expected to be out until next month.
