Lyons is now joining in training with head coach Michael Appleton and his new teammates to help integrate the newcomer into the squad.
“It’s an ideal situation where the season in Ireland finished in November which has given me the time to come in early, get to know everyone and acclimatise to being around the place,” he told Tangerine TV.
“It’s my first time away from home so it’s going to be different, it’s going to take some time to adapt and get to know the area.

“But from a football point of view as well, I need to get to know the formation, the style of play and things like that.
“To get to know the culture will be really interesting, but it’s something I’m really looking forward to.”
Lyons added: “It’s been a bit of a mad one these last few days.
“I had a holiday, I had the awards night and then I was straight over, so it’s been a mad few days.

“To finally be in the building is great and I’m really looking forward to getting going, meeting the lads and staff.
“There’s no better way to get to know the lads (over in Spain), so when the call came and they asked me to come on the trip I was more than delighted to.
“It’s the perfect place to get to know everyone, the warm weather training in Spain will be brilliant so I’m really looking forward to that.
“Getting my foot in the door is important, so I’m really looking forward to it all.”
