Luca Thomas scores twice but Coasters denied victory against Worthing

Luca Thomas scored twice for AFC Fylde as they drew 2-2 with Worthing at Mill Farm, with the visitors equalising in the 89th minute after a mistake in the Coaster's defence.

Fylde started the brighter of the two sides, with Ethan Mitchell testing the Worthing keeper with a curling shot from just outside the penalty box in the opening exchanges, but it was the visitors who took the lead with a spectacular long-range effort from Jose Marquez after 16 minutes.

Greg Olley had the best chances of the first half for the home side and looked certain to score from close range after Adam Lewis' low cross found him clear in the six-yard box, but his effort was brilliantly saved by Seymour.

It was Luca Thomas who levelled for AFC Fylde with 15 minutes played of the second half, after great build-up play on the left-hand side from Corey Whelan, Adam Lewis and Harvey Broad.

Broad's low cross found its way across the six-yard line to the back post, where Thomas was able to neatly finish into the bottom right-hand corner.

Thomas then doubled Fylde's lead on 73 minutes after a superb counter-attack started by substitute Danny Mayor, whose sweeping ball found Broad on the right wing.

Broad's pass into the centre was inch perfect for Thomas, who took a touch before looping the ball over the oncoming keeper's head and into the empty goal.

There were few clear-cut chances for either side in the closing stages of the match, but the visitors managed to grab the equaliser in the 89th minute after capitalising on a mistake in the Coaster's defence.

Winning the ball back deep in the Fylde half, Worthing worked the ball into the penalty box, and after Jones could only parry a shot, it fell kindly to Coleman De-Graft, who tapped in at the back post.
