“I’m really grateful I got to watch a performance like that”: AFC Fylde boss has high praise for his team
AFC Fylde started their Bank Holiday weekend with three points on Friday night.
Craig Mahon was a thoroughly satisfied man after watching his AFC Fylde team pick up three points against Forest Green Rovers on Friday evening.
Two goals in four second-half minutes from Coventry City loanee Harvey Broad handed the Coasters a 2-0 victory at Mill Farm.
Fylde’s second win from four National League matches was the perfect way to atone for their defeat at Woking the previous weekend.
“I’m absolutely delighted with how the lads did,” said Mahon, whose players are back in action at Solihull Moors on Bank Holiday Monday.
“Their attitude, their character after a tough weekend last week; to bounce back from that just shows what this group’s all about.
“The performance level, against a really good team, is fantastic to watch and I’m really grateful I got to watch a performance like that.
“We’ve worked really hard on some of those patterns and the plays, coming into the pockets and getting the switch on, and the lads deserve all the credit for that because I thought it was outstanding.”
Broad’s double made it three goals in two games, following on from his effort at Woking, though Mahon was quick to highlight the work done by his team-mates.

The head coach added: “Harvey’s been a pleasure to work with as a person, because I always judge the person before the player.
“You can see his quality out on the pitch. He’s come in, he’s hit the ground running.
“As much as Harvey’s goals were outstanding, you look at the build-up play and the lads behind him.
“It takes their passes, their bravery and their delivery of the ball to create those goals, so it’s such a team effort.”
