“They’ve been fantastic for us all season so far”: AFC Fylde prepare to host Hartlepool United

AFC Fylde head coach is looking forward to their return home on Tuesday.

AFC Fylde are back on home soil this evening with head coach Craig Mahon saying his players are under no pressure to atone for defeat last time out.

The Coasters welcome Hartlepool United (7.45pm) for the first of two National League matches at Mill Farm this week, with Hornchurch visiting on Friday.

Mahon’s players go into tonight’s game on the back of last weekend’s 4-0 loss at league leaders Boreham Wood: a third in the last four following on from defeats to Carlisle United and Southend United.

Hartlepool, under new boss Pete Wild, make the journey after ending a run of six straight league losses with consecutive wins over Forest Green Rovers and Hornchurch.

Mahon told club media: “I look back at Saturday and, for the first 30 minutes, I thought we did really well.

“We had chances and if we had taken one of our early chances, it’s a completely different game.

“Something we always look for is a reaction. There’s no pressure on these boys to go out and make up for what’s happened on Saturday because they’ve been fantastic for us all season so far.

“We’re just going to turn up, going to do our own thing, going to do it our way and hopefully we can come away with the result.

“Hartlepool got a good win at the weekend so we have to make sure we do everything right.

“Myself, Alex (Kenyon, assistant boss) and Chris (Neal, goalkeeping coach) have been watching matches, talking to each other regarding shape, team selection and how we think we can hurt Hartlepool.

“They’ve got a new manager in now and they’ve got themselves back to winning ways. We’ve got to make sure that we’re fully ready to go and I’m sure the lads are.”
