Blackpool midfielder looked back on their three points from Tuesday evening.

Albie Morgan admitted Blackpool’s players were relieved to have ended the club’s wait for a league win with three points in midweek.

Having taken seven points from nine in August, five losses in six either side of the international break saw the Seasiders at the wrong end of the League One table.

“It’s been a long time coming,” said the 26-year-old, who has featured in every league game so far.

“Someone mentioned it was the end of August, the last win (their victory over Peterborough United).

“It was a bit of a relief for me and the other lads, hopefully we can take this into the weekend.”

Tuesday’s win was the proverbial performance of two halves as Ian Evatt’s squad had to deal with the Dons’ direct approach to proceedings in the opening 45 minutes.

The second period saw them able to get the ball down, led by Leighton Clarkson, while Ilmari Niskanen and Josh Bowler were a twin threat on the flanks.

“The gaffer touched on maybe the in-possession stuff wasn’t as good in the first half as other games,” Morgan added.

“We showed the other side of the game, it was a good performance in terms of that.

“Second half, everything came together. We managed to get the goals and the win - and I think we deserved it in the end.

“If you look back to the last two games (before MK Dons), Leyton Orient and Cambridge (United), which are fresh in my mind, you take the decision from the Cambridge game (George Honeyman’s early red card) and that finishes differently.

“Leyton Orient, probably in terms of what the gaffer wanted us to do, was a good performance if you take into consideration the stuff with the ball.

“Points are the most important thing. We got the win on Tuesday and we need to try and continue that.”
