MP Chris Webb speaks in praise of Blackpool's community groups and volunteers in Parliament
“Local organisations and volunteers step up daily to support others and make our town a better place to live”
Blackpool South MP Chris Webb has spoken up on Parliament in praise of the resort’s community space and volunteer group, saying they are some of the strongest examples of what makes the town special.
During a debate on Coastal Communities Isolation and Hidden Deprivation, Mr Webb spoke about the importance of investing in communities like Blackpool, tackling loneliness and improving health in coastal communities.

“I wanted to make sure the people already doing this work in Blackpool get the recognition they deserve for supporting so many people in our community,” he said afterwards.
The MP highlighted Grow Blackpool at The Grange, Blackpool Community Centre, The Hub at South Shore and the Forget Me Not Dementia Cafe led by Jenny Fitzsimmons and her volunteers as just a few examples of organisations which bring people together, reduce isolation and create stronger, healthier communities.
“Blackpool's greatest strength has always been its people,” he said. “Local organisations and volunteers step up daily to support others and make our town a better place to live. But they cannot be expected to carry that responsibility alone.

“They deserve long-term support, sustainable funding and a government that understands the challenges coastal towns face – and one that’s prepared to invest in the people and organisations already making a difference.
“It's a privilege to stand up for Blackpool in Parliament and I'll always use my voice to champion the incredible people and community groups that are changing lives across our town every single day.”
