Me and little ones aged four, five and six visited The Gruffalo and Friends Clubhouse in Blackpool last week. And what a treat it was.
As the summer holidays enter the final week, finding things to occupy the kids is becoming harder and harder.
But have no fear we have the perfect solution.
Me and little ones aged four, five and six visited The Gruffalo and Friends Clubhouse in Blackpool last week. And what a treat it was.

If you’ve never been - let me fill you in. It’s soft play meets enchanted woodland storytelling. And the best part is it is right here on our doorstep.
The children were so excited. They had been before with their grandparents and were delighted to be able to show me around on my first visit.
As soon as we walked through the door we were met by a member of the team who welcomed the children and handed them all a sticker. We then found a base and started to explore.
The youngsters absolutely loved the huge ball pit and after sprinting off had to be reminded they needed to remove their shoes before diving in head first!
And I get why they were so excited! There is so much to watch and take in.

The main part of the space is made up of the Deep, dark wood adventure play area and separate soft play with slides, tunnels and stepping stones to explore.
There is a dedicated toddler area for the little ones called Room on the Broom, as well as Zog’s Dragon School Challenge, a Gruffalo Soft Sensory Room, and the Snail and the Whale Seaside Play.
But that isn’t all. You can enjoy story times and dance sessions with the Clubhouse’s very own characters including The Gruffalo, The Highway Rat, Zog and Mouse.
After a quick explore and a chance for me to grab a much needed Costa coffee from the cafe, there was an announcement storytime was about to start.

We made our way into the enchanted wood and took a seat of the huge tree logs underneath the fairy lights.
The interactive and immersive story had children of ages engrossed.
Everyone had huge beaming smiles, which was so lovely to see. I spoil it and tell you the story incase I ruin your visit but all I can say is we had a special visit from Mouse.
The story time was the perfect amount of time. Long enough the children were engaged the entire time but not too long they felt they were missing out on playing.
As soon as it was over Mouse came to the meet and greet area and posed for pictures with all his new friends.
Throughout our visit we also got the chance to meet The Highway Rat and the big man himself The Gruffalo.

The children absolutely loved exploring and when our 90 minutes were over they were full of wonderment and excitement ready to tell daddy about their day.
