Exciting plans launched for new Fylde coast fishing destination
Poulton Plaiz Leisure Centre has submitted the plans.
New plans submitted to Wyre Borough Council could see a brand-new fishing destination launch on the Fylde coast.
Under the proposal, which has been submitted by Poulton Plaiz Leisure Park on Garstang Road, three existing lakes on the park’s grounds would be turned into a recreational fishing complex, along with the necessary parking and access tracks.
According to the planning document, ‘the development has been carefully designed to create a high-quality angling destination whilst integrating within the surrounding landscape.’

Vehicular access to the ponds would be available via internal access tracks, which would be made from a crushed grey stone aggregate. A total of 20 parking spaces would be constructed, located adjacent to the main lake, along with footpaths and 22 fishing pegs.
A design and access statement submitted alongside the application says: "The proposed fishery represents a logical extension of the existing offer, complementing the established holiday accommodation, broadening the range of visitor facilities and further strengthening the long-term sustainability of the business through appropriate diversification."
Natural England were consulted as part of the application and registered no objections to the plans.
The application has been validated by Wyre Borough Council and will now proceed to the next stage of the planning process. A decision is expected to be made within the next few months.
