Ambitious plans for Fylde coast church extension and barn demolition revealed
The plans will now e decided on by Wyre Council.
Ambitious plans to extend a Fylde coast church and build a new car park by demolishing an existing outbuilding have been revealed.
Great Eccleston Methodist Church submitted the plans to Wyre Borough Council last week. The church plans to demolish a derelict barn, a pig pen and parts of the existing church to make space for the new extensions.
The church would then extend its building to the rear and the front, creating space for a new main entrance, plant room and large worship space. Plans to build an additional overspill car park have also been proposed.

According to the church, the need for the extension comes from a ‘growth in congregation numbers’ and an ‘increased demand for multi-purpose community rooms’. The current Sunday congregation size is around 50, and a number of community and children's groups use the church during the week.
“The scheme is important because it will secure a much‑needed community facility that already supports worship, local services and social activity for people across Great Eccleston and the surrounding villages,” Great Eccleston Methodist Church explained in the planning statement.
“By providing additional space and parking, it will allow the Church to meet growing demand, reduce overcrowding, and continue serving as a vital place for community life, especially for families, older residents and those travelling from further afield.”
