A festival of fun and games as Fylde Hockey Club teaches primary school pupils to play hockey
School pupils head to Fylde Hockey Club to learn more about hockey.
Fylde Hockey Club opened its doors to a number of primary school pupils last week as they learned more about playing hockey.
Eight-five pupils from years five and six represented eight schools at the club’s Primary Schools Hockey Festival, which was held last Tuesday.
The event saw young players presented with the opportunity to develop their skills and enjoy an afternoon of hockey.
The festival introduced those in attendance to the basics of the game, with the children taking part in skills activities.
They then put what they had learned into practice during fun and competitive five-a-side matches.
Young leaders from Carr Hill High School supported the event, which was organised by their PE teacher, Mrs Carroll, and delivered by Fylde Hockey Club’s coaching team.
A Fylde Hockey Club spokesman said: “The afternoon provided a great opportunity for pupils to try hockey, build confidence and enjoy being active as part of a team.
“Fylde Hockey Club welcomes players of all abilities, from beginners taking their first steps into the sport to those looking to develop their skills and play competitively.
