That's according to the Bolton News, who claim talks are already underway about bringing the 38-year-old into Evatt's backroom staff.

Gilks is currently at Fleetwood Town and was on the bench for their recent play-off semi-final defeat to Wycombe Wanderers.

However the former Scotland international is out of contract this summer and is looking for his next job.

The shot stopper played alongside Evatt during his six-year stint at Bloomfield Road, in which he amassed almost 200 appearances.

Bolton are looking for a new goalkeeping coach following the recent departure of Mike Pollitt, who announced via social media that his contract wasn't being renewed.

Evatt took the Bolton job last month following his National League title win with Barrow.
