'Wrote us off' - Ian Evatt responds to Blackpool doubters after Peterborough United win
Blackpool secured a crucial 3-1 victory over Peterborough United at the weekend.
Ian Evatt states Blackpool are at their most dangerous when they’ve been written off.
The Seasiders have enjoyed a strong run of form in the last few weeks, pulling themselves four points clear of the League One relegation heading into their final three games.
In their last six outings, they’ve managed to put 13 points on the board, with their only defeat during that period coming away to Stevenage on Easter Monday.
While they remain part of the battle to avoid the drop, the picture looks much improved to a month ago - when many feared the worse.
“One thing I’ve learnt about this club in the many years I’ve been a part of it is, when everyone writes us off, we’re at our most dangerous,” Evatt said after Blackpool’s 3-1 victory over Peterborough United on Saturday.
“Everyone wrote us off at the wrong time, and we’ve shown we can be a dangerous team. Long may that continue. We’ve got three games to go, and we’re going to do as much as when we can to get as many points on the board.”
Since his appointment as head coach back in October, Evatt has had to deal with some difficult periods, but believes there’s been snippets of what he wants to build in the long-term.
“This has been tough for me since I’ve come in because I haven’t been able to really get the identity of what I want to create here at the forefront,” he added.
“I’ve done it in spells when we’ve had players available, but we’ve been through so much; a lot of it has been fire fighting to get results.
“Today was another good indication of the team I want us to be - I think we looked dangerous, I think everyone was excited by what they saw; we’ve just not done that enough.
“Fingers crossed, we haven’t got the job done yet, but when we do and I’m confident we can, we can really drill down into that identity moving forwards, and that’s what this club stands for.”
