Following their relegation from the Championship, the Blues have spent big to ensure an immediate return to England’s second tier, and have picked up 22 points from their first nine games.
Morrell knows what it takes to get out of League One, having won promotion via the play-offs back in 2007 during his time with the Seasiders.

Morrell’s CV also includes two spells playing for Wrexham, as well as a stint in the dugout at the Racecourse Ground.
In recent years, the retired forward has turned his attention to media, and currently has the task of commentating on the Red Dragons home and away - with Phil Parkinson’s side claiming 20 points in 10 games since their promotion from League Two.
“It’s busy to be fair but I love it - I couldn’t turn the opportunity down with the journey Wrexham are on at the minute,” he said.

“Being on the rollercoaster that Wrexham have been on in the last few years is insane, I can’t use any other word - it’s been a brilliant journey so far and it doesn’t look like it’s going to stop any time soon.
“I’ve not met the owners (Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney), but I’m getting a little bit closer every time. From what I’ve heard they’re great people, and for once it’s an owner that has done exactly what they said they’d do.
“When they do come it’s an absolute circus around the place because everyone wants a piece of them.

“It’s a bit of a fairytale, and I know there’s a lot of jealousy out there because everyone would want what Wrexham has had.
“They’ve obviously got two promotions back-to-back, and we’ll see whether they can get that again; it’s a bit tougher in League One.
“It’s a quality division, and its depth is really good. There’s a lot of teams in there that will be thinking they can get in the top six. There’s some big clubs: Charlton, Reading, Bolton, Birmingham, Blackpool. All of these teams have eyes on going up.

“I saw Birmingham and that was like a party. They were excellent, they kept the ball so well. I’d be surprised if anyone is above them at the end of the season. They’ve got goals all over the pitch.”
