Blackpool injury update issued ahead of Plymouth Argyle test - with no date set for duo

Blackpool take on Plymouth Argyle on Saturday afternoon.

The Blackpool matchday squad is set to remain unchanged for this weekend’s game against Plymouth Argyle.

Ian Evatt’s side will be looking to bounce back from a three-game winless run and head into the League One international break on a high note after initially starting the season brightly.

While no one is expected back off the treatment table for Saturday’s meeting with the Pilgrims, four players are set to be available again for next month’s trip away to Cambridge United.

Defensive pair Fraser Horsfall and Michael Ihiekwe are currently not part of that group, as they continue to battle with their respective long-term battles.

Providing an injury update, Evatt said: “Everyone is fine (from last week against Bromley), there’s no issues at all. Everyone’s trained well this week, so there’s some selection issues really where we’ll need to look at the opponent and what we didn’t do too well on Saturday.

“Obviously Jerry (Yates) is getting fitter and stronger all of the time, so he comes into it pretty strongly. We’re looking forward to the game.

“No one will be back this weekend, but after the international window we’ll have at least four back really, which is huge for us.

“Dale (Taylor), Niall (Ennis), Hayden (Coulson) and George (Honeyman) will all be back training and available for the next league game against Cambridge.

“Having depth in the squad is really important. Every time we’ve had strength in numbers, it has correlated with good results, so that’s really important.

“Fraser (Horsfall) and Michael (Ihiekwe) are progressing but they’re two complex cases, so I’m not really willing to put a timeframe on it at the moment.”
