Blackpool boss handed punishment ahead of Plymouth Argyle meeting

Ian Evatt has been hit with a punishment ahead of Blackpool’s meeting with Plymouth Argyle.

Blackpool boss Ian Evatt has been hit with a one-game touchline ban following last Saturday’s 2-2 draw with Huddersfield Town.

The 44-year-old will be forced to sit in the stands this weekend when his side take on Plymouth Argyle at Bloomfield Road.

Evatt picked up the ban after receiving his third yellow card of the season at the John Smith’s Stadium.

The Seasiders head coach was left frustrated by several decisions in the recent game against Huddersfield, and called for better communication from officials across the board.

In the build-up to the Terriers first goal on Saturday, Blackpool were convinced a free kick should’ve been awarded to Fletcher after he appeared to be caught well inside his own half.

When asked if there was a foul after the match, Evatt responded: “The players seem to think there is. I just want some consistency, I don’t think we’re getting any at all from any official at the moment, especially towards us.

“Dion (Charles) is a guy I’ve got a lot of admiration for from my time at Bolton, but he clearly kicked the ball away in the first half, and that’s a yellow card. Olly Casey does less in the second half and gets booked. That’s the frustration, and that’s where it boils over.

“Referees are quick to brandish cards against managers, which I think is absolutely ridiculous. A manager is entitled to question a decision when they don’t think they’re consistent.

“I just think we’re getting it completely wrong with the way referees manage personalities, whether it’s on the pitch or off it.

“I think we’re creating robots, and the days of having communication, good communication with staff and players, seems to have disappeared.”
