Ex-Blackpool, QPR and West Brom figure still searching for next club a week on from Deadline Day decision
Ex-Blackpool winger Matt Phillips departed Oxford United on Deadline Day.
Former Blackpool winger Matt Phillips is currently on the search for a new club.
The 34-year-old most recently spent time with Oxford United, and made 41 appearances for the U’s in total on the back of his move to the Kassam Stadium in 2024.
After featuring just eight times in the Championship this term, it was announced on Deadline Day that Phillips’ contract had been terminated by mutual consent.
Over a week on from that, the ex-Scotland international remains a free agent and available for clubs to pick up.
Phillips’ career so far

Phillips came through Wycombe Wanderers’ ranks, and scored nine times in 87 senior games for the Chairboys, before making the move to Blackpool in 2010, on the back of the Seasiders’ promotion to the Premier League.
During his time on the Fylde Coast, he scored 18 goals in 101 outings, with 27 of his appearances coming in the top flight under Ian Holloway.
The winger left the Seasiders in 2013 to join QPR, and remained at Loftus Road for three seasons.
On the back of that, Phillips spent eight years with West Brom, appearing 225 times in total for the Baggies, scoring 31 goals and providing 31 assists, before joining Oxford following the conclusion of his contract at the Hawthorns.
