'We need' - Blackpool boss sends out fresh message ahead of big Peterborough United clash
Blackpool were defeated 1-0 by Stevenage at the Lamex Stadium on Easter Monday.
Ian Evatt states Blackpool need to create another intense atmosphere at Bloomfield Road this weekend as they continue their fight against relegation.
The Seasiders head into their meeting with Peterborough United just two points above the relegation zone, with Exeter City just below them in 21st.
A 1-0 victory over the Grecians on Good Friday helped to create a cushion between the Fylde Coast outfit and the bottom four, as they made it 10 points from four games, but Easter Monday’s events changed the picture once again.
Blackpool’s recent progress was halted with a 1-0 defeat away to Stevenage, with Harvey White’s second half goal proving to be the difference between the two sides at the Lamex Stadium.
Meanwhile, Exeter were able to pick up a victory elsewhere, alongside Wigan Athletic, as the teams around the Seasiders in the table enjoyed positive afternoons.
Evatt’s side have been able to turn Bloomfield Road into a fortress in recent times, with 13 points being collected in their last five home outings.
The atmosphere inside the ground in the last two games in particular has provided the players in Tangerine an additional lift, and offered them some hope at the bottom.
“We knew we weren’t out of it, we knew it wasn’t job done yet,” Evatt said.
“We’re in a good position. We’ve obviously got a slight advantage with points on the board, but we’ve got two very important home games that are going to be vital to what happens this season.
“We need this place buzzing to get ready for Saturday. We’ve not got time for heads to drop and to get back into that low energy sulky mode.
“We have to keep this place bubbly and positive. We’ve got a game we can win, but only if we do the things we did for the two weeks prior to today.
“The main thing is it’s still in our hands. There’s going to be ebbs and flows. We’ve been on a really good run of results and we have to keep the positive energy going.
“We need to create a really intense, intimidating atmosphere, and get on the front foot - being a bit braver with the ball to get the three points we need.”
