Further Blackpool business not anticipated as CEO issues message to fans

Blackpool CEO David Downes has issued a message to fans.

Blackpool are not currently anticipating any further transfer action before today’s 11pm transfer deadline - but will remain proactive.

As it stands, the Seasiders rounded off their summer business with the additions of Jerry Yates and Josh Earl last week.

The pair followed the earlier arrivals of Dion Charles, Ilmari Niskanen, Karoy Anderson, Jordan Williams, Finley Munroe and Luke Southwood - who have all been added to Ian Evatt’s squad throughout the last few months.

There has been one bit of Deadline Day movement on the Fylde Coast, with Kylian Kouassi departing on a permanent deal to Colchester United.

Following the weekend’s impressive 4-0 victory over Peterborough United, Blackpool CEO David Downes has shared a message thanking supporters for their backing throughout the start of the campaign.

“Saturday’s result and performance will no doubt have started everyone’s Bank Holiday weekend perfectly,” he wrote.

“Bloomfield Road was in great voice and you could feel a real excitement around the stadium. We all left on Saturday with that buzz that only Football can give you as well as Spirit in the Sky ringing in our heads.

“There’s a lot of football ahead of us, that will bring highs and inevitably some challenging moments in the season, where we will have to stick together. However, your fantastic support will always continue to make a huge difference to our team which doesn’t go unnoticed by Ian and the players.

“With the season ticket deadline tomorrow and sales heading close to 7,000, I must thank every one of you for your continued backing and commitment as we kick off our 125th Year of permanently playing at Bloomfield Road.

“My appreciation also extends to the large numbers of you that headed into the club Shop and those who placed orders online of our special 125th Anniversary shirt that was launched at the weekend as we mark a significant milestone in the club’s history.

“The shirt is an acknowledgment of our kits from the early 1900s, incorporates details from the stadium across 125 years and features several historic Blackpool FC crests.

“A special mention must go to the supporter who was outside the Club Shop from 7:30am on Saturday morning! He was right though, as we have sold over 800 of the 1901 available, an unbelievable effort and no doubt the letters ‘Y’ ‘A’ ‘T’ ‘E’ ‘S’ will need a restock this week!

“In recent weeks, we’ve welcomed young fans to special training ground visits, as well as international supporters travelling from as far away as Colorado.

“Our recent open training session saw hundreds of supporters take to the stands to watch the team’s final preparations, creating a fantastic atmosphere and seeing the next generation of supporters getting closer to the club.

“In the coming weeks, we’ll also be launching our Tangerine Teammates initiative for the season. Working alongside the Blackpool FC Community Trust, we’ll see each member of the first team squad again connect to a local grassroots club.

“It is vital that we continue to take the club into the heart of our local community and we find new ways to engage across the Fylde Coast.

“We are fortunate that Simon (Sadler) consistently backs us all and every penny that goes into our club is spent on improving the squad and improving infrastructure to take us forward, even with the challenging SCMP regulations that we must now navigate.

“I don’t anticipate that we will look to do much more in the transfer window, but as ever we will always look to be proactive if opportunities arise that are good for the club throughout the day. You’ll see me on The Preview Show in the coming weeks too, to talk about my first few months in the role.

“I also want to say a huge thank you to all our staff and club volunteers for the work you put in every day. People who consistently work tirelessly behind the scenes to make this club what it is, and I want you to know how much that effort is appreciated. “And finally, to our fans, thank you for continuing to stand with your club. Your passion, loyalty and continued support makes Blackpool Football Club what it is.”
