Blackpool boss issues injury update on pair following absence against Barnsley

Blackpool remained without several players in their 2-1 defeat to Barnsley on Wednesday night.

Hayden Coulson and Ilmari Niskanen remained absent for Blackpool in their latest League One outing.

Neither of the pair were involved in the Seasiders’ matchday squad in Wednesday night’s 2-1 defeat away to Barnsley.

Coulson has missed the past two games after suffering a dead leg in the recent EFL Cup meeting with Lincoln City, while Niskanen is working his way back to full fitness after being hit with a shoulder injury on the opening weekend.

It had been initially hoped that the pair would’ve been back for the trip to Oakwell, but now for one their spell on the sidelines is set to be longer than initially anticipated.

Elsewhere, there is some more positive news on the injury front, with several players getting closer to their respective returns.

Providing an update, Blackpool boss Ian Evatt said: “We decided to image Hayden (Coulson) and it’s slightly worse than his presentation so he’s going to be out for a few weeks.

“Ilmari (Niskanen) is nearly back and has a chance to be involved on Saturday (against Reading).

“Jordan Brown will be back training on Monday, and Dale (Taylor) and Niall (Ennis) are back on the grass, so on the injury front things are looking positive.”
