Ian Evatt: It was about time that Blackpool benefited from some good luck
Blackpool head coach was happy to see his players enjoy some good fortune in midweek.
Ian Evatt admitted it made a pleasant change for Blackpool to have fortune go their way in Tuesday’s win against MK Dons.
The Seasiders collected a first League One victory in seven matches as second-half goals from Karoy Anderson and Dale Taylor secured a 2-0 win at Bloomfield Road.
Anderson broke the deadlock midway through the second half as what looked to be a fiercely-hit first-time cross caught out Dons keeper Will Dennis.
It lifted a subdued atmosphere among the supporters, who saw Blackpool collect a second home league win of the season.
Asked about the importance of that opening goal, the head coach said: “It’s about time we had the rub of the green because some of the refereeing decisions we’ve had have been appalling in three of the games.
“It seems like every time the ball lands in our box, it ends up with the opposition and ends up in the back of our net.
“It’s nice that it’s gone the other way and it was a sigh of relief - and the players then started to relax and show some of the courage and personality we ask them to do in possession.”
That personality in possession was also aided by the half-time arrival of Leighton Clarkson.
He replaced George Honeyman, whose evening was cut short by a calf issue.
Clarkson immediately added a calmness to Blackpool’s play after a first half which saw them have to deal with their visitors’ more direct approach.

Evatt added: “I did feel, first half, that we needed some more personality with the ball and obviously Leighton helps us with that.
“The players, second half, have shown we can stand up to that physical side.
“We did it consistently well and also, then, we were much more like it in possession - and hopefully they can start believing in themselves a little bit more now.”
