Update on controversial plans for 102 new homes in Fleetwood on Fylde coast

The plans were submitted to Wyre Council last week.

Updated plans for the controversial 102-home West View development in Fleetwood have been revealed, including proposals for a new layout of the houses and a change in road access.

Planning permission for the development was originally granted to Regenda Homes back in 2022 as part of a 10-year regeneration project for Fleetwood. The site was to include a mix of terraced and detached homes, and was told to include affordable housing options in its plans.

After four years of consultation and hindered progress, Regenda has now re-submitted plans to Wyre Borough Council and wants to change some aspects of the original proposals.

Regenda wants to:

Minorly reposition seven houses and raise the height of a road to allow for ‘fully compliant driveways to accessible dwelling’.

Improve certain road layouts within the site to create ‘better vehicle access... fronting the junction to Rede Avenue’.

Revise the step design for 25 houses to create better enclosed front gardens.

Introduce secondary fences to mitigate issues over ownership with existing properties on Princess Way (North).

These plans will now be considered by Wyre Borough Council, and a decision will be made in due course.
