'It's the ideal spot for a lager on a warm day' - pictures reveal Fleetwood Marine Hall's exciting new look

“The area needs somewhere where you can stop for a lager whilst walking along the beach, it’s the ideal stop.”

This is a first look at how Fleetwood’s Marine Hall will look once work begins on impressive plans to overhaul the iconic building.

The development, which will take shape and open officially in 2027, will extensively revamp the iconic Art Deco complex - including the provision of a new cafe and outdoor seating on the seaward side of the building.

Local people have long believed the area is crying out for a place where they can relax with a drink or have something to eat, overlooking the beach whilst taking in the views and sunsets Fleetwood has to offer.

Plans are now moving forward to find someone to run the cafe and Wyre Council is inviting expressions of interest from experienced hospitality operators.

There would also be the potential for the new vendors to host hospitality-led events and activities.

Reader Ian Richards said: “This is just what Fleetwood needs. The back of the Marine Hall has some of the best views, I’ve always thought it would be good to have a cafe or a bar where people could sit and enjoy the view.

Councillor Christine Smith said: “I definitely welcome it, it is something that has been missing for years and with the regeneration of the area going on, especially as we are having warmer summers, it will be a great place to be.

“I think it will bring people in, there are plenty of tourists with campervans that could use it .

“We are missing the Mount pub and the Boston is being done up, the area needs somewhere where you can stop for a lager whilst walking along the beach, it’s the ideal stop.

“I hope we can pull it off and it definitely needs to run properly.”

What exactly are they going to do?

  • The bar and kitchen area of the building will be brought back into use as a café.
  • Internally, the existing kitchen will be partitioned to create an indoor seating area for 28 seats, with associated serving area. New WC facilities would be created within the entrance lobby for use by visitors to the café.
  • Externally, an outdoor decking area will be provided for use by the café, supporting an additional 26 seats.
  • Both ramped and stepped access would be installed to facilitate access to the decking area, which would provide access into the café through the retained main entrance doors and a newly created secondary entrance.
  • A retractable awning above part of the decking area would support its use all year round.”
  • The Promenade facing elevation would be altered to provide enlarged windows and updated cladding treatment, to enhance the appearance of the building and improve visitor experience.
  • An extension to the existing WC block to the west of the building will include four additional toilets.
  • A new entrance lobby would provide direct access to the WCs and also act as a new access point into the function room directly from the gardens.

Those interested in the opportunity to run the Marine Hall cafe are encouraged to register their interest by January 2027.
