Salt of the Earth deli set to take over The Cube in Poulton in major ownership update
"We're putting a lot of ourselves into this new venue, and we're excited to share it with Poulton."
The future of the Cube in Poulton has finally been revealed, with a new business set to open at the premises and bring a fresh chapter to the former bar and nightclub.
The Gazette can reveal that the team behind Good Food Award-winning Salt of the Earth will launch Salt, a new cafe, bar and social venue in the downstairs section of the Cube.
During the day, Salt will offer a relaxed café atmosphere, serving food and coffee, and at night it will transition into a cocktail and wine bar.

The Cube has been vacant for a number of months, and in August the bar’s management team announced that they would be closing permanently. The upstairs of the Cube is currently being used as an office space.
Thea Stevens, head chef at Salt and a Poulton resident, has played a pivotal role in getting the project off the ground. She told the Gazette the new business aims to provide a space where creativity can flourish.
"After living and working in Poulton my whole adult life, we've seen the town change enormously,” Thea said. “The cost of living, the pandemic and changing attitudes towards health and wellbeing have all influenced how people spend their time.

"But we don't believe people have stopped wanting to go out. We think they're looking for something different, something that gives them a little more from the experience.
"There's a real creative renaissance happening across the Fylde Coast, particularly in Blackpool and Cleveleys, where the art and music scenes are thriving. That talent exists here in Poulton too, and we'd love to help give it a place to flourish."
According to Thea and owner Dani Mellor, Salt will take inspiration from the French tradition of apéro, focussing on good food, good drinks and good company. There are also plans for Salt to host live music, independent film screenings, poetry evenings, quizzes, tastings and other creative events.

Although Thea and Dani have not conformed an opening date, renovations to the site are now well underway. The team behind Salt has moved on from Salt of the Earth, a popular deli and café in Carleton which closed earlier this year. Thea and Danielle now hope to build on the strong community they established there through their new venture.
"We absolutely adored our time running Salt of the Earth,” Thea added. “The relationships we built with our customers made us fall back in love with hospitality, and we felt a real sense of community in that little café. That's something we want to build on.
