After leaving QMS, she pioneered the development of a Home Economics Department at Rossall and during her 18 years there, she introduced GCSE and A level courses, before her retirement in 1998.

Linda was an active member of St. Chad’s Church in Poulton and a keen and supporter of social gatherings for former teachers both of King Edward and Queen Mary School and Rossall.

Julian Wilde, former principal of KEQMS, said Linda was above all a people person. “She was always full of vitality and verve,” he said. “Her enthusiasm made every lesson a delight to her pupils.

“Her family – husband Michael and daughter Zoe, now herself teaching at AKS – and wide circle of friends were important to Linda. Everyone will always remember her for superbly sunny disposition.”

St Margaret’s church in St Annes was full for Linda’s funeral, which was followed by a gathering at the Clifton Arms hotel in Lytham to celebrate a life joyfully lived.
