Blackpool teenagers dream big with clothing brand True Ambition launched for school trip to Nepal

“Some of them are struggling and we will take some of the items of clothing and they can feel a part of something.”

Two budding entrepreneurs have launched their own clothing label ahead of a school trip next year to Nepal, to teach children English.

Alfie Welsh, 15, and Tao Lord, 16, who are both Y11 pupils at St Mary’s Catholic High School, decided to set up their own logoed brand to maximise their efforts in fundraising.

And their entrepreneurial spirit has rewarded them with inundated orders for hoodies and t-shirts.

Alfie said: “We had to do a fundraiser for school towards the trip to Nepal but we wanted to go above and beyond to really support the Nepalese children in the way they are living.

“So, we had a few ideas in our heads, we sketched a couple of designs and used the computer to bring it to life.

“We were looking for a name and asking people for different ideas - total ambition was one but then we thought about True Ambition.

Tao said: “Then we needed a quote to go with it and we thought about ‘Own Your Journey’.

“It means you can go down your own path instead of following the crowd and we thought it would be good for the children in Nepal.

“Some of them are struggling and we will take some of the items of clothing and they can feel a part of something.”

At the heart of Alfie and Tao's vision for True Ambition is believing in yourself, dreaming big, and pursuing your ambitions without hesitation.

The pair are best mates and have been since primary school. Their fundraiser will help towards the cost of getting themselves to Nepal for the trip and if there is some surplus, they are planning to make a donation.

Beyond that, they have plenty of ideas and support from the wider community and people in the business to help them get their idea properly off the ground.

Alfie’s dad Graham Welsh said: “We are over the moon with them, very proud.”

They have a range of colours and styles available for hoodies and t-shirts. The prices start from £20 for T-shirts and £30 for the hoodies. If you would like to find out more, visit their Facebook at TA Clothing - true ambition.
