Major travel disruption across North West as flights delayed over air traffic control fault

Passengers are being urged to check with airlines.

Flights are being disrupted in Scotland and northern England because of a "technical issue" at an air traffic control centre in Scotland, National Air Traffic Services (Nats) has said.

A Nats spokesman said engineers were continuing to investigate the problem at its Prestwick centre.

Airports south of Manchester are broadly unaffected, according to Nats. However, flights heading north and those departing Scottish airports are currently subject to some delay.

"Passengers should check with their airlines," the spokesman said. He added that the fault was unrelated to the issue two weeks ago, and said: "We apologise for the disruption."

I've kept to the facts in your text and haven't added any background. If you'd like a version with more context, such as the earlier disruption, I'd need a confirmed source for it.
