Former Spirit of Youth changing rooms in Blackpool's South Shore to be torn down

The obsolete structure is now to be torn down

For many years they were the changing rooms of Blackpool junior football club Spirit of Youth - but now they are set to be demolished.

An application has been lodged with Blackpool planners for the demolition of former changing room facilities on Jepson Way, in South Shore.

The facilities became obsolete following the opening in June 2023 of the Common Edge Sports Village, modern sports pavilion with brand-new changing rooms, a full-sized 3G pitch, and improved community spaces, which replaced the older, outdated setup.

The old changing facilities were initially kept temporarily to serve as a site compound and welfare office for contractors working on the Blackpool Airport Enterprise Zone link road and Eastern Gateway infrastructure.

However, with the new Common Edge Sports Village fully operational and surrounding highway development progressing, a formal planning application has now been submitted to tear down the obsolete structure.
