Woman rushed to hospital in 'critical condition' after car crash near Little Eccleston

A major route in Little Eccleston has been closed after a woman was taken to hospital in "critical condition" following a one-vehicle collision.

An air ambulance, land ambulance, a rapid response vehicle and police rushed to the scene of a one-vehicle collision on the A586 Garstang Road today (September 1).

The driver - a woman believed to be between 50 to 70-years-old - was taken to hospital in critical condition at around 8.50am, according to the North West Ambulance Service.

Officers confirmed the road was blocked following the incident, and a road closure was put in place near Windy Harbour due to crash investigation work.

A spokesman for Lancashire Police said: "We were called at 8:50am this morning. One vehicle is involved and the road is blocked.

"A closure is in place on Windy Harbour. The female driver has been taken to Royal Preston Hospital."
