I'm so happy with the leadership and teaching and I'm proud to have kids who are part of this brilliant school

“I am proud to have children who are part of this brilliant school.”

Parents have congratulated staff and pupils at Baines School after it received a positive Ofsted report following 11 years of 'requiring improvement'.

Baines School in Poulton has been rated as requiring improvement following inspection visits since 2015. Previous reports in 2007 and 2011 had rated the school on Highcross Road as 'Good'. But now, after years of "dedication and hard work", Baines is back on track.

An inspection team, led by Rachel Goodwin said the secondary school had achieved ‘expected standard’ in every judgement area under new stricter guidelines. And Baines is the first secondary school on the Fylde Coast to achieve ‘green’ across all areas inspected.

Headteacher Clare Doherty said: "This outcome reflects the dedication and hard work of our entire school community - our staff, students, governors, parents and carers.”

And parents have been quick to pay tribute to the hard work of staff, governors and pupils.

Heidi Elizabeth said: "It is a brilliant school, I've known that since my eldest started. I am so happy that the direction, leadership and teaching Mrs Doherty has installed have finally been recognised. I am proud to have children who are part of this brilliant school."

Debbie Biddulph added: "This is fantastic news. We knew from the headteacher's speech at the first open night we went to that our son would be happy there. Baines is most definitely back."

Sandra Sutton said: "My daughter thrived with the help of some dedicated staff. She's currently doing her GCSEs and will miss the school."

And Lisa Jenna added: "The new approach of the head and all the behaviour and leadership staff has definitely worked with my son. Consistency and high standards are expected and delivered."

Ms Doherty said the improvements would give Baines a 'strong foundation' to become the school of choice in the area. The Poulton school currently has 747 pupils but has a capacity for 890 pupils without charging fees.
