Norcross Car Boot near Blackpool row escalates into brutal social media war of words as vendor quits

“Money clearly talks louder than basic respect and communication in some businesses. Thanks for the lesson.”

A row between the owners of Norcross Car Boot Sale and a food vendor over pitches has escalated into a public war of words and insults.

The argument between Desi Delightz, an Indian street food vendor, and Norcross Car Boot Sale started when Desi Delightz was asked to commit to five days a week trading across Norcross and Poulton car boots.

After trialling the five days, Desi Delightz decided that there was a lack of ‘trade and footfall’ and decided to not commit to the proposed pitches at Poulton and Norcross.

Norcross Car Boot has claimed that the Indian food vendor then stopped attending a number of organised car boot sales, and subsequently offered Desi Delightz’s pitch to another food vendor: Desi Punjab Delights. Despite similar names, the two businesses are not affiliated.

Following on from this disagreement over pitches there has been a war of words on social media between the two parties. Desi Delightz kicked off the argument by posting: “ Turns out loyalty has a price.

“Apparently it’s whatever 5 days worth of pitch fees comes to. No hard feelings though- money clearly talks louder than basic respect and communication in some businesses. Thanks for the lesson.

“Desi Delightz was never created with the intention of becoming a five-day-a-week car boot business. Norcross became a brilliant part of our journey because our customers loved the food and kept coming back, but our actual goal has always been to grow the business, expand our collections and catering.”

Norcross Car Boot hit back by posting: “Wasn’t going to say anything but with the ridiculous essay that desi delight has put on their page I feel it needs addressing. Desi Punjabi Cuisine have been trading for years and yes they have a similar name (Desi) but so do another few hundred companies. They are not stepping on anyone’s toes nor are they stealing anyone’s pitch, they were invited by me.

“I’m going to make one thing crystal clear, and this applies to all the traders at Norcross Car Boot Sale, yes you can have a regular pitch but if you’re not regular somebody else will be in it.”

Desi Delightz have now moved onto new projects, including the opening of their own takeaway, and Norcross Car Boot will continue to operate as usual.
