Haven caravan park reveals major plans to change opening months

The application was validated by Wyre Borough Council last week.

Cala Gran Caravan Park has unveiled plans to open one month earlier each year in what would be a major change for the popular Fleetwood holiday site.

Starting in 2027, Cala Gran wants to change their opening months to begin the holiday season on February 1st, rather than March 1st, which is what the current planning rules allow them to do.

According to the planning statement, “approval of the application would enable Haven to support growing domestic tourism trade, which itself plays a key role in the national economy and to local markets.”

“The park operates successfully across 10 months of the year, so this additional 29 days (30 days in a leap year) represents a modest but important increase to the number of operational days at a time that is traditionally quiet for tourism in Wyre and the adjacent authorities,” the statement continues.

Haven has also confirmed that no additional caravans, car parks or other pieces of infrastructure would need to be built to support the proposals.

There would be no new employees taken on to help staff the additional month of trade as all roles would be filled by existing staff members.

The application was lodged in mid-August and validated last week, and it will now move onto the next stage of the planning process.
