Fleetwood Savers updates on re-opening of Lord Street branch months after fire ravaged neighbouring store

“The shelves are ready, we are chomping at the bit to get open and all the staff are excited to welcome customers.”

Savers in Fleetwood is finalising a re-opening date - but hopes of it being Monday are slim.

The shop, next door to the fire ravaged Ex-Catalogue store on Lord Street had tentatively hoped to open after the weekend but the manager is doubtful.

Stuart Whiteside said: “I’m at a meeting today to find out where we are at but I can’t see us being open for Monday.

“The shelves are ready, we are chomping at the bit to get open and all the staff are excited to welcome customers.”

The popular shop that sells toiletries and make-up, was forced to close its doors following the fire that ravaged the neighbouring store in Lord Street on June 3.

Lord Street was closed for weeks over fears the ruined building could collapse.

However it was made safe last week with robust scaffolding, ensuring its safety and leading to the much-anticipated re-opening of the town’s high street.

Stuart has been regularly updating customers on social media and it is clear the shop has been missed.

One customer posted how they were looking forward to the shop trading once again and all good things come to those who wait.

Wyre Council announced the opening of Lord Street saying ‘the council is satisfied that the necessary works have been completed and that the immediate safety concerns that led to the restrictions being put in place have been addressed.

“Businesses affected by the restrictions will now be able to resume trading as normal.”
